Ambassador of India to Japan H.E. Sujan R. Chinoy co-hosted a Reception with the Japan Foundation on 18 January 2016 for participants at the Symposium on "Shared Values & Democracy in Asia", which is the second in the series of SAMVAD (Dialogue) jointly initiated by the Prime Minister of India H.E. Narendra Modi and the Prime Minister of Japan H.E. Shizo Abe. The first Samvad Symposium was held in New Delhi in September 2015 on the theme of Hindu-Buddhist Thought for Conflict Avoidance & Environmental Consciousness. The Symposium in Tokyo was attended on behalf of the Government of India by Hon'ble Shri Kiren Rijiju, Minister of State for Home Affairs. Other participants included former President of Indonesia, Hon'ble Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono.
