Nope, I've been in Japan only for 3 months and I came there since I had some friends who was exchange students in my university last year.
Yes it is! And on second thoughts, canteen might actually be a better translation for 食堂 than food court, which was how I tried to translate it. Does that mean you're not around anymore?
In may and june I used to came there once a week to join football club activities :) なんとなく懐かしい Is this the canteen/refectory, isn't it?
