With our karaoke hangovers we headed to Meiji Jingu Shine. The walk to the shrine was beautiful through the park and the trees lining the way. We weren't allowed to take pictures or videos but we saw a wedding taking place which looked really special (even in the rain). Our next sightseeing destination in Tokyo was Harajuku. This is a really vibrant area. We saw the cat and owl cafe but didn't go in because the cover charges seemed expensive. We have tried to do as many free sightseeing areas as we could in Tokyo and Meiji Shrine and Harajuku are both free activities. Harajuku has a lot of punk and alternative shops but they also have something else very unusual. They have doll shops. As in you can go in and buy yourself a doll outfit. We saw a few people walking around dressed like dolls. They go to a lot of effort with the outfit, hair and makeup. There are also loads of crepe shops in this area. I obviously went for the triple chocolate filling. We brought a 24 hour metro pass for 600 JPY and headed to Shibuya Intersection which is one of the most famous pedestrian crossings in the world. We wouldn't normal go to a Starbucks as we tend to favour local places over chains however, the Starbucks here had an amazing view of the crossing so we decided it was worth it. After a quick coffee stop we were pretty hungry so went for more Japanese food. I had chicken and Chris had Pork. The food prices in Tokyo are actually cheaper than our other destinations in Japan. Probably about 25% cheaper which is great for our budget. The following day we went to Tsukiji Fish Market to try either Sushi or Sashimi. We knew we were going to blow the budget here but we heard it was the absolute best so we had to give it a go. We walked around of ages looking at all the stalls and finally settled on a restaurant. We loved the food and would definitely go back to the Fish Market if ever we go to Tokyo again. With our full bellies we made our way to Senso-ji Temple which is one of the most important Temples in Japan. On the way out I spotted this cake, bready thing which I had watched a food blogger, Mark Wiens eat before so I wanted to give it a try. It was so delicious and huge! Like a giant doughnut, sweet bread. Gutted that we only found it on our last day. We've had the best time in Japan. One of our favourite countries but its time to move on. Hong Kong here we come!!
