2 Person Tsunami Survival Capsule - Water Stability Trials - Tokyo Bay - August 2013 | Tokyo
Information | History | View | Sightseeing | Video
This procedure was conducted in order to better understand the stability of the capsule in still conditions and confirm that the calculated center of gravity yielded the expected results. The capsule was occupied by 2 adults, 2 air tanks, thermal insulation, all survival equipment and supplies including 20 liters of fresh water. The occupants rocked back and fore very aggressively and found the capsule to be very stable.

Survival Capsule designers , all it takes is an object to puncture that vessel and the occupants will be drowning in very little time. The exterior should be far more impact absorbing, maybe a dense rubber, or an inner liner bladder of some sort. In a tsunami we saw the impact forces of debris in vehicles where relatively small objects pierced heavy equipment doors, very thick metal.

It is imposible to probe realibility on such normal water conditions...Got be tested on big agitated waters

What if you open the door? It flood?
-
OK .... So it floats ....
-
no oxygen , how long you can stay inside ?

Do you have footage that is more realistic testing? I'm not quite sure this stability test reflects a simulated environment that a natural disaster would create. "Rocking back and forth aggressively really doesn't simulate anything close to what I've seen the ocean capable of doing".
