yall big city guy make East Texas runner like Homer Jones great....He was also the first to spike a football in the NFL....
-
@pbrick6301 I saw Homer Jones play in the 1960's. Nobody was faster than Bob Hayes. The "Bullet" ran a 9.1 in the 100 yard dash; Homer's fastest time was 9.3. Jones had a higher career average yards per catch - 22.4, Hayes - 20.0; Bob had almost twice as many TD receptions - 71, Jones - 36.
-
They ran a 60m in like 1904 I think...but you're right otherwise
-
you serious? 100m for crying out loud....
-
I had the pleasure of seeing Bob Hayes play football while attending Florida A&M. He was fast in pads, too.
-
Ironically enough, future Football player Henry Carr would go on to set the Olympic Record and win gold in the 200m.
-
This video is insanely well made i got shivers watching him cross the finish line
-
The fastest ever, no doubt.
-
so true
-
actually they use to run 211ft or yards or something which is like 100.8m
-
I watch this several times a day and the sound of all out sprinting of the world's fastest humans at the time is spine tingling... Close your eyes and just listen - wow!
-
NOOOOOO! you accelerate from the blocks you hit a "top end" after you reach your top speed which for almost ALL sprinters is after a good 50-60 meters when you "relax" and drive to the line AFTER the burst of excellerating out of the blocks to get to top speed, look up John Chambers from Neptune New Jersey he is my cousin back in the 70's he ran the 60(yd) dash in 6.1 seconds and IN HIGH SCHOOL still holds the state record,so i know a bit about sprinting
-
i hear you Vaughn, but Hayes WAS also a back at FLORIDA A&M early 60's and ran track in the off season, thing is he just happened to ALSO be the fastest human AND fastest NFL player EVER. even Darrell Green at his hall of fame ceremony tols roger staubach in an interveiw- "i;m the fastest player in the NFL AFTER bob hayes" !
-
I do agree with a very little of what you say, but the other guy does have a very good point, speed is about acceleration, and yes you CAN'T compare a NFL back to a Olympic track runner. And also yes, college HB like me only train for actually about 5-15 yard sprints, because how often does a HB make run 100m, exactly NEVER. So you can stop comparing Backs to Track runners anytime now...
-
o.k. slow white boy, look FOOL the 40 is SHIT as thr majority on REALLY fast humans don't get up to full speed until after 60 70 meters, those players you'd love to suck their cocks just would never have even been close to a guy who ran 48 yrs ago and on DIRT,who cock tastes better Johnson or Sproles lmao
-
jesudomine is correct. 100yd was an American race, 100m was always the Olympic distance.
-
thanks
-
enrique figueroa runs like ato boldon IMO

"Bullet" Bob is STILL the Cowboys 3rd all time leader in TD's. Trailing only Emmitt Smith and Tony Dorsett, two Hall of Fame running backs. In 1970 he averaged 26 yds per catch. The next year it was 24. That's a quarter of the field every time he touched the ball. What we now know as "double coverage" was invented because of Bullet Bob.

@fiscusd i wish they could of raced at halftime or something. i am amazed that anybody else ever heard of homer jones. he is kind of a forgotten man. and yes you are probably right. look how hayes powers thru the track.
